Kinetic Chain Release

I’m delighted to offer Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) at Peace of Mind Therapies in Inverness.

Does the image to the right remind you of yourself?  Do you feel you lean more to one side? Do you feel you’re balance is off?  Then this is definitely the treatment for you!

So what is KCR?

Kinetic Chain Release was developed by Scottish physiotherapist Hugh Gilbert. It’s a protocol of gentle stretches and joint mobilisations which enables our skeleton to realign and bring the body back into balance. In turn this helps to relieve aches and pains and increases our energy levels.

What can it help with?

Kinetic Chain Release (KCR) is known to help a wide range of physical issues and sporting injuries. These can include – Chronic back pain, sciatica, neck and shoulder pain, pelvic pain, problems with the ankles, knees & wrists, tennis elbow, frozen shoulder, calf and hamstring strains, migraines, IBS, PTSD, anxiety, sleeping issues, teeth clenching, Fibromyalgia, Repetitive strain injury, plantar fasciitis, scoliosis, TMJ dysfunction, carpal tunnel and chronic fatigue. The list doesn’t stop there.

Who can have Kinetic Chain Release and who can’t?

KCR is suitable for most people but there are some exceptions. Women over 12 weeks pregnant are unable to receive this treatment but can have it as soon as they give birth. It’s also not suitable for anyone with severe osteoporosis.

Kinetic chain release is suitable from young babies upwards.

What happens during a session?

You remain fully clothed. You’ll only be asked to remove your shoes and socks ( you’re also asked to wear loose and comfortable clothing). The Kinetic chain release protocol takes 30 to 45 minutes. We firstly look for an apparent leg length discrepancy and then I’ll begin at your feet and work my way up to your head. It is the same protocol for each person. It’s not really a relaxing treatment. You will be asked to lie on your back, lie on your front, sit up, lie down again and so on. Some of the movements may be slightly uncomfortable but you’re in complete control of your session at all times and you can ask me to stop at anytime.

How many sessions of Kinetic Chain Release will I need?

This is completely dependent on each individual. Some people can feel the benefits straight away but with long term pain/issues it could take between 2 to 4 sessions to start feeling the difference. If there is no difference after 3 sessions then I will refer you to another practitioner who is qualified in CTR (connective tissue release).

Also some people with ongoing pain will come for monthly maintenance.

Do I need to do anything afterwards?

Yes! You will be given an aftercare sheet with instructions. You’ll be required to perform some calf stretches and wrist stretches. These need to be done once a day. You’ll be shown these before leaving.

How will I feel after the treatment?

Some people will notice an immediate difference. They may feel looser, energetic, more balanced, but for some it can take a few days for the body to settle and adjust. You may also feel slightly tender in some places.

How much does Kinetic Chain Release cost?
